To upgrade within one major version, it is usually enough to simply download and install the latest build of the software. The software will automatically detect an appropriate registration information on the system and register the new build without any action from you.
As you perhaps know all our releases can be classified into two types: major and minor. A new major release is usually called a version and is defined by the first digit in the product version number. And minor release is called a build and is defined by all other digits. Say, if you have Flash Decompiler 3.10.567 it means that you own version 3 and have build 3.10.567. If you refer to a changelog of any product (search for the corresponding menu item when on the product's features page) you will notice that we release new minor and major versions rather often. That's because we try to further improve, fix and enhance or products.
So, if you discover the build you have is not the latest one but it is within your major version, please follow the simple steps:
1) download the installer from the product page (our website always hosts the latest builds of the latest version);
2) install the latest build to target system (ideally you should uninstall the old build first to prevent conflicts);
3) launch the newly installed application and check whether it is registered (refer to 'About' option);
4) if the software seems to be in Demo mode, enter your registration info (name and code) to unlock the software;
5) in some cases you will have to re-start the application (or IDE if you own our ActiveX Control) to get the license applied.
According to Eltima's Upgrade Policy "The minor upgrades (or updates) are generally free (if the opposite is not denoted at the product page or in the user manual), but the upgrades to major versions must be purchased with a discount (usually 50%)." It means that you will not be charged for a new minor version, but will be asked to pay half the price if you upgrade to the new major version. For more details see our Upgrade Policy.
NOTE: if you discover that you purchases a license just a month or less before we released a new major version, we (Eltima Software) will be glad to give you a completely free upgrade. That's what we call "grace period upgrade". Send your order ID to support@eltima.com and request a new registration key.
Major Upgrades: we guarantee that all the bug reports that are submitted by our registered user will be investigated by our testers according to the support plan that a Client orders (see above) and a fix is provided. If a Client reports the bug that was already fixed in one of the previous version, we will recommend to upgrade to the version that eliminates the problem. Note that the bug that was fixed in a newer version than a Client owns cannot be a reason for getting a refund.
Our Upgrade Policy says that "The minor upgrades (or updates) are generally free (if the opposite is not denoted at the product page or in the user manual), but the upgrades to major versions must be purchased with a discount (usually 50%)." The good news is that if you have purchased a license within a grace period (i.e. one month) before new major version release, Eltima Software will provide you with a guaranteed free upgrade, whatever license you own.
Lately we have introduced a new option for our Clients who want to avoid paying for new major upgrades in future. When placing the order online, you can also include a Lifetime Upgrades subscription which will cost you 30% of the order amount (but not less than USD 9.95). If you add it to your cart, you can never bother yourself with a need to purchase a new license key when a new major version is released. You will always have the most up-to-date version of your license.
NOTE: we host and distribute only the latest version (build) of the software, so when upgrading you should make sure that this version is the one you have a license for. If you upgrade to a higher major version than the one you have a registration key for, you will discover that you now have a Trial version. And there will be only two ways: to upgrade the license to the new version or to find an old installer for your version.
