A tag is a keyword chosen personally by you to describe a download task. Tags are assigned to your downloads and allow finding them by browsing or searching. Thanks to Spotlight integration you don't have to start Folx to look for the required file or to browse in folders on your hard-disk. All you have to do is click Spotlight icon in the top-right of the menu bar. A text field will be invoked, where a search query can be entered (a tag). Search results will be immediately listed.
You will find it very handy that one and the same file can have different tags, though it is stored only in one folder.
How does it work?
Folx proposes an outstanding feature for secure storage of your files - a smart folder technology! Your downloads are saved into folders according to the tags you've assigned beforehand. One file will be stored only in one folder, but you can assign as many tags to a file as you wish. In other folders symlinks and hardlinks are created. If the folders are in the same volume, then hardlinks are created, if they are in different volumes - symlinks are created.
Note:
To delete a file from your hard disk right-click the task in Downloads list and choose "Delete with Files" option. If a file has symlinks, one of them will become a hardlink. The rest of symlinks will be fixed to point to the new hardlink. Also you can right-click the required folder in Tag list or the task in Downloads list and select "Reveal in Finder" option. In the invoked window choose the required file and delete it. If a file has hardlinks in other folders, they will be valid until at list one hardlink to the file exists. Symlinks to the file become invalid.
A deleted file is moved into Trash, from where you have to delete it yourself.
