Important notice: in case you are modifying existing access rights for particular application, please, disconnect it from shared serial port prior to changing access rights settings.
1. Launch "Shared Serial Ports" application in case it is not started yet. For instance, the default path to it: "Start" (Windows button) -> "All programs" -> "Eltima Software" -> "Shared Serial Ports" -> "Configure Shared Serial Ports".
2. Select serial port, you want to modify access rights for, in Serial ports tree.
3. In "Add application with custom access rights" textfield of the Configuration panel specify the full path to application you want to set custom access rights to.
4. In order to adjust access rights, please, toggle "Allow reading", "Allow writing" and "Manage control lines" options. This will grant or restrict certain access parameters to shared serial port for the chosen application.
Note, that only one application can manage serial port's control lines. It is the only application which is able to change control line signals' states (RTS\DCD\etc.) and, as the result, has full access to serial port device. In fact, control lines' managing application can establish connection to shared serial port as many times as you like. For instance, if you have granted Windows HyperTerminal managing rights, you may launch it several times and each instance of HyperTerminal can be connected to shared serial port without any problems. However, only the first instance will have access rights to manage the control lines. In most cases, "Allow reading" and "Allow writing" options are enough to access shared serial ports.
5. Click "Set custom rights" button to modify access rights
6. Finally, launch application you have set new access rights for and open shared serial port in order to have new rights changed.
Important notice: if you are changing custom access rights for the application which is already connected to shared serial port, you have to restart it to apply the changes.
