Commander One lets you boot your Mac as the root user.


The root user is a special user account with high-level system access intended for system administration, troubleshooting, etc. The root account can access, read/write to all files on the system. Additionally, root can remove or replace system files. By default, root user is disabled in Mac for security purposes.


To enable the root user, go to the main menu --> Command and choose the "Restart as Root" option:


Type the administrator username and password:


Note: The root user will start with the default settings. Personalized settings and options for your current user won't be applied to the root.
